Job Summary

The Diesel Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining all major and minor engine repairs, for Gillespie & Powers owned equipment, ensuring efficient and safe operation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspect equipment when returned from jobs, including but not limited to concrete pumps, air gunite pots, plastic pots, welders, and transformers, as well as pneumatic equipment (jackhammers, chipping, tampers, etc.)
  • Occasionally deliver refractory pumps to jobs and go through equipment on site to ensure proper working condition.
  • In-house maintenance on company-owned vehicles when necessary.
  • Record services and repairs to maintain accurate records.
  • Establish a preventative maintenance program for equipment.
  • Follow operating instructions, troubleshoot breakdowns, maintain supplies, perform preventative maintenance, and call for repairs to keep equipment operational.
  • Maintain equipment inventory to ensure necessary parts are on hand.
  • Collaborate with coworkers to get repairs done in a timely manner.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • General knowledge of diesel and gas engines.
  • Basic electrical knowledge and hydraulics.
  • Possess a CDL Class A license or be able to obtain one.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship in all aspects of equipment maintenance.

Education & Experience

  • Vocational training in Diesel Mechanics
  • 1-3 years of experience in related field

Travel:

  • May require occasional travel to job sites.
